Laughter Yoga is a unique form of exercise that incorporates fun laughter exercises and the yoga breath, it is completely different to the traditional yoga moves that you might be familiar with and does not require you to be a contortionist by any means.

When we laugh, we breathe in more deeply meaning that we breathe in more oxygen making us feel more energetic and healthy. Anyone can laugh without relying on humour, comedy or jokes. Laughter is a universal language that is open to all.  At the Laughter Club where there are no membership fees, no special kit and equipment or even a sense of humour is required to join in with fun.

Laughter has been around for centuries though often we forget to laugh when the pressures and challenges of life get us down!
 
When was the last time you had a good old belly laugh and had tears streaming down your face?

The brain cannot tell the difference between real or fake laughter so faking laughter until you make it naturally has so many health benefits. When you connect to your inner childlike playfulness and  make new connections with the laughter group through eye contact and willingness to laugh for no reason your body as well as your mind feels lighter, more relaxed and at peace.  Body and mind experience release.Everyone knows that laughter is the best medicine and is good for health and emotional wellbeing.

The benefits of regular laughter include a cardo workout- In fact 10 minutes of laughter is like 30 minutes on a rowing machine. It reduces the negative effects of stress and depression as well as strengthening the immune system, controls blood sugar levels and lowers blood pressure keeping the heart healthy.
Laughter Yoga deals with physical, mental and emotional stress simultaneously. People who laugh a lot enjoy better relationships, better health and are much better at coping with stress than those who don’t laugh as often.
 
A laugh a day really does keep the doctor away!

Laughter Yoga

Laughter Yoga classes run weekly on Saturday mornings from 10-11am at the Sutton Life Centre, Sutton Common Road, SM3 9PX as from Saturday 7th January 2012


Classes are on a donation basis of £5 per person, per class which goes towards the cost of venue hire and advertising costs, all excess funds raised through Laughter Yoga go towards creating new Laugher Yoga classes. 

Loose, comfortable, layered clothing is ideal as you will get warm.


Laughter Yoga was developed in 1995 by Medical Doctor Dr Madane Kataria, it started with just 5 people in the parks of Mumbai. There are now are hundreds of thousands of clubs in more than 70 countries across the world. Laughing across nations is one step closer to world peace which is Madane Kataria's aim and why we as Laughter Yoga Leaders train in this methodology. It build bridges and make new connections one laugh at a time and I’m proud to be a part of it!
