the hypnosis sessions you are not asleep and you are safe and in control at all times. You can hear everything being said
to you during the hypnosis sessions as your conscious mind is alert but more relaxed making the unconscious mind more accessible.
How do I know if I can be hypnotised?
Virtually everyone can enter the
hypnotic state if the hypnotherapist uses the right techniques. Hypnosis is best described as relaxation and most people
know how to relax or can remember a time when they relaxed even if it seems like a long time ago. It’s important
that you find a hypnotherapist that you feel comfortable with and who you feel you can initially talk to with ease about any
concerns that you have.
Will I be unconscious, lose control or be under the 'power'
of the hypnotherapist?
No. You are in a deep state of relaxation where the analytical part of your
mind closes down and the unconscious mind opens up. You have full control throughout entire hypnotherapy session and
you cannot be made to do anything against your wishes. You are still aware of what’s going on around you.
Will I have to reveal my innermost secrets?
No. It is possible for the hypnotherapist
to work content free if you do not wish to divulge personal details, if the content is known often the progress is faster.
Hypnosis can help you to reprogram how you remember your experiences so they no longer keep you blocked from moving on or
achieving new things.
Should My Doctor Know If I Am Having Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy
is a useful supplement to orthodox medicine and can achieve considerable success in its own right. It is wise to tell your
doctor of any complementary treatment you are considering. Doctors are generally supportive of hypnotherapy as an aid
to improved health and emotional wellbeing. Please do not give up taking any prescribed medication unless your doctor advises
this.

The Conscious and Unconscious Mind
The mind has two parts: the conscious and the unconscious mind. Imagine an iceberg
at sea. The conscious mind is the bit that sticks out of the water that you can see and are aware of. The unconscious mind
is the bit hidden away underneath the surface that you can’t see but is there all the time normally just outside of
our awareness.
The unconscious mind stores our memories and all the things we have learnt to do.
We use our unconscious minds through the day without realising.A good example of this is if you drive to remember when you
first learnt how to. You had to consciously work out where to put each foot and how to use each control. As you became
more confident at driving, you handed more and more control over to your unconscious mind. Now you are so confident that you
can drive, navigate and talk to your passenger all at the same time that you no longer have to think about doing all these
things at the same time!
